Quick answer: No.
More complete answer: Also no… but also yes.
I know that a lot of people dismiss “Mork Borg” and many of the games based off of it (“CY_BORG”, “Vast Grimm”, etc) as being all style, and no substance. They are supposedly ‘unplayable’ because of the art style used in these games, especially MB itself, but to be fair, that isn’t even remotely true.
I have played a lot of “Mork Borg” and associated games, and the system is easy to understand, and quick to learn. If you can grasp the basics of D&D and Old School Revival games, then you will get MB. Even with the rather distinctive and striking art in the core book, it is still pretty easy to read, but even if you struggle with that, there is a art-free version of MB that is provided for free.
You can’t really beat that, to be honest.
So while I understand where people are coming from, when they criticize MB for its art style, when it comes right down to it, they don’t really have a leg to stand on. The game – and others based on its system – are popular because it just works, and is a lot of fun. The art is for mood, and it works for that as well, but even if that isn’t your thing, you can get a free version without all of the art.
In short, “Mork Borg” rocks, and is an excellent TTRPG. Period.
